Jawa Jive Milkshakes

Jawa_ionblasterAccording to the cookbook, these milkshakes are served at giant Jawa swamp meets.  Not sure if I believe that or not, but they weren’t kidding when they called these milkshakes “delicious!”

There are four recipes on this page, and the steps are, of course, very simple for each one: put everything into a blender, blend, and pour into a cup.

Yes, I tried all four.

And no, I don’t regret a thing.

We started with “Super Strawberry,” a combination of strawberry ice cream, frozen strawberies, and milk, with an option of adding in white chocolate chips.  I happened to have bough some white chocolate chips for another recipe, so I threw those in as well.  While I thought they were a nice addition, I don’t think you need them.  The strawberry was my husband’s favorite of the bunch, and we started devouring it before I remembered to take a photo so…that’s my reasoning for the half-eaten milkshake photo.

Next was “Double Chocolate.”  This one included chocolate ice cream, milk, chocolate syrup, and an option of adding crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (so…Oreos).  I didn’t have the sandwich cookies, but it didn’t need it!  This was second place for both my husband and I.

The third one we tried was the “Chocolate-Banana” flavor, which was my absolute favorite.  But chocolate banana has always been my favorite flavor of milkshake!  This one included vanilla ice cream, banana, milk, and chocolate syrup.  Again, there’s an option of adding crushed Heath bars, but we didn’t have them so I didn’t bother.  And again, it was not needed!

Finally, we ended with “Vanilla and Peanut Butter.”  My husband refused to try this one because he’s a weirdo who doesn’t like peanut butter, so I was on my own.  This one combines vanilla ice cream, vanilla extract, peanut butter, milk, and peanut butter chips.  This one was also incredibly delicious, tasting similar to the inside of a peanut butter cup, but be prepared that the chips will collect at the bottom of the glass.

Taste: 10/10 for ALL milkshakes

All of them were terrific!  The strawberry one was a little too thick because of the frozen strawberries, but the rest were the right consistency.

You don’t need any of the add-ons, as they achieved a 10/10 rating on their own, but feel free to add if you want to add a little something extra.ogp856nl-720

Difficulty: Easy

Just throw everything into a blender and blend.

Cost: Average

You’ll need to purchase ice cream and milk for whichever milkshake you’re making, and then the other ingredients depend on the flavor of your choice.  You may need to purchase fruit (banana or frozen strawberries), chocolate syrup, peanut butter, peanut butter chips, and/or any of the “optional” items (health bars, chocolate sandwich cookies, or white chocolate chips).
