Sally’s French Toast (with Rum)

screen-shot-2015-05-02-at-3-41-38-pmThis breakfast is made by young Sally Draper in Season 4 Episode 9.  She prepares her father some French toast breakfast, proud that she didn’t get any egg shells in it this time, but has accidentally mistaken rum for syrup!

As with most typical French toast recipes, eggs are beaten and then mixed with milk and cinnamon.  In this recipe, however, rum and maple syrup are also added in.

The bread is then coated in the mixture and fried in a pan over the stove until browned on both sides.

The French toast is served with butter and maple syrup!

Taste: 8/10

The toast actually tasted really good, but it was a bit mushy in the middle.  I think they added too much milk in this recipe.

I also didn’t taste the rum at all, and would have liked to increase that flavor a bit.20180901_112219

Difficulty: Easy

Once you combine the ingredients, you just need to dip the bread in the mixture and then fry over the stove.

Cost: Cheap / Average

We already had some rum in the house, so I thankfully didn’t need to purchase that.  All that we bought was bread and milk, and you may need to purchase cinnamon, eggs, and/or maple syrup as well if you don’t already have them in your kitchen.
