Meat Loaf
Meat loaf is always an easy meal to prepare, and this recipe was no exception. So it’s a perfect match to Lynette’s character!
Essentially all the ingredients are mixed together (some combined separately first before adding to the meat), formed into a loaf, and tossed in the oven.
Yep…that’s it!
Taste: 9/10
This was actually quite nice. I’ve never put carrot in my meatloaf before, but it worked well! The only problem with this particular recipe, in my opinion, is that they used too much mustard. It was a little bit overpowering. But that’s an easy fix – just use less next time!
Difficulty: Easy
Just combine ingredients, form into a loaf, and bake.
Cost: Average
You will need ground beef, bread crumbs, scallions, carrot, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, tomato paste, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
Better-Than-Packaged Breading
This a bonus recipe I wasn’t expecting to make, but is required for the Broccoli with Seasoned Bread Crumbs. According to the recipe, it also goes well on various meats.
It was quite easy; just combine all ingredients and store in a sealed container!
Taste: 8/10
This was not “Better-Than-Packaged” in my opinion. I thought one of the spices was a bit too strong and overpowering; I think it was the thyme, but I’m not positive.
Difficulty: Easy
Literally could not have been easier. Just measure and mix.
Cost: Cheap
This is more expensive if you don’t already have the spices. You need bread crumbs, dried thyme, dried oregano, dried sage, paprika, and salt and pepper.
Broccoli with Seasoned Bread Crumbs
This recipe is actually titled “Broccoli or Cauliflower with Seasoned Bread Crumbs,” so it works with cauliflower as well. I felt like we needed some green in our diet, though.
The broccoli is first boiled, then cooled completely. Once it’s cool parmesan cheese and melted butter is added to the bread crumbs and the broccoli is tossed and pressed into the bread crumb mixture to coat.
Finally, it’s baked in the oven until brown and tender!
Taste: 8/10
It was okay, but would have been better if the breading was better.
Difficulty: Easy
While it does take some time to prepare this recipe, it is quite easy. The steps are boiling the broccoli, tossing the broccoli with the bread crumbs, and then baking the broccoli.
Cost: Cheap/Average
You will need the broccoli, of course, as well as Parmesan cheese, butter, and the bread crumb mixture listed above.
