Hummus a Tune Burger
Hummus on a burger? Yep, that’s right. And honestly, it’s not half bad!
This burger special appears in Season 4, Episode 18 of Bob’s Burgers.
The first step is to roast some red peppers in the oven, and then peel the skin off once they’re cool enough to handle. I decided to add a little bit of olive oil to the red peppers before baking, though it’s not specified in the recipe.
While the peppers cooked, I made the hummus by mixing chickpeas, cannellini beans, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and sesame oil in a food processor until smooth. They don’t mention whether or not to drain the chickpeas and cannellini beans, but I opted to drain. I think it was the right call.
Next, the burgers were cooked in whatever way you like. We did ours over the stove since we don’t have a barbecue.
And the final step – build your burger: bottom bun, lettuce, burger pattie, hummus, roast pepper, top bun.

I thought this would only be “okay,” but it was actually very good! The hummus was delicious.
Difficulty: Average
Roasting and peeling red peppers was a new one for me, but wasn’t actually as tough as I thought it would be. It was tricky getting all the skin off though.
Hummus is simple to make since it just involves throwing everything into a blender, and the only other task here is shaping and cooking up the burgers.

You’ll need red peppers, cannellini beans, garbanzo beans / chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, sesame oil, salt, pepper, ground beef, lettuce, and buns.
