Don’t Get Creme Fraiche With Me Burger

img_6693This burger has blueberries in it.

Yep.  You read that right.  Freaking BLUEBERRIES!

For the burger patties, you mash those blueberries up with a fork and then combine with breadcrumbs and ground beef.  They’re then shaped into patties, and it’s recommended that you sear them before cooking because they’re delicate and will start falling apart.

The creme fraiche topping is a mixture of creme fraiche and chopped basil.  I was pulling my hair out over finding creme fraiche, which I SWEAR I saw at Ralphs but for whatever reason it’s not there anymore.  So I cheated and used sour cream instead of creme fraiche.  Tasted AMAZING and probably pretty darn close to the creme fraiche, since the basil does overpower the rest of the flavor.

The building of the burger is: bottom bun, a handful of spring salad mix, burger patty, basil creme fraiche, and the top bun.

Taste: 10/10

I was honestly shocked at how much I enjoyed this.  I mean… c’mon, blueberries?  Really?  In a BURGER?!

But my goodness, it was freaking delicious.  I couldn’t even tell that there were blueberries in there, maybe because the basil overpowered it.20190913_173044

Difficulty: Average

The patties are very delicate, so you’ll need to be very careful when flipping the patties.  The recipe recommends searing the patties beforehand to help make it slightly easier.

Cost: Average

You’ll need blueberries, bread crumbs, ground beef, basil, creme fraiche, Vienna rolls, and spring salad mix.

I used sour cream instead of creme fraiche, because I wasn’t able to find creme fraiche anywhere.  I also used regular hamburger buns, because I sent my husband to the store to pick up the “Vienna Rolls” and that’s what he came home with…oh well.
