Mulled Apple Cider

Merry Christmas, everyone!

My family is visiting me in California this year, and they observe cocktail hour with a vengeance.  So I whipped up a batch of The Pioneer Woman’s mulled apple cider for the group this Christmas Eve!  She does have a version of the recipe on her website, but the one I made is from her cookbook which is slightly different.

The steps couldn’t be simpler – pour the apple cider into a pot, add chopped apple, orange peel, allspice berries, cinnamon sticks, cranberries, and sugar, and bring to a simmer.

After about an hour, apple brandy is added (optional) and it’s simmered a bit longer.

Then it is served hot!

Taste: 9/10

This was sooooo good, but just a little too sweet for me.  I don’t think it needs that extra sugar…or maybe adding half the amount would work.  It did go over very well, though!

Difficulty: Easy

This was a nice and easy recipe!  Not very difficult at all.

Cost: Average / Pricey

You will need apple cider, granny smith apples, orange, apple spice berries, cinnamon sticks, cranberries, sugar and, if you’d like, apple brandy.
