Bacon Pancake Donuts

Yes, you read that headline right!  This recipe combines three of the most delicious foods: bacon, pancakes, and donuts.

The pancake donut base is made first by combining the dry ingredients, followed by the mixing in the wet ones.  It creates a very sticky mess that’s dropped into the donut pan.

While the pancake donuts are baking, the bacon is cooked over the stove (and then crumbled) and the icing is made simply by combining all the ingredients and mixing well.

Once the donuts are cool, they’re dipped in the icing and then the bacon is sprinkled on top.  Easy peasy!

Taste: 7/10

While this is a great concept, I found the donuts themselves to be a little bland.  They’re slightly denser than donuts, but not as sweet.  The icing and bacon topping were great, though!

Nothing too challenging about this recipe!  You’ll want to keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t burn, and definitely make sure they are cooled before you dip in the icing or it will run.

Cost: Average

You’ll need flour, baking soda, salt, brown sugar, maple syrup, buttermilk, regular milk, egg, powdered sugar, and bacon.

I had most of these ingredients in my pantry and fridge already, so the only expense for me was bacon and buttermilk but I know that won’t be the case for everyone!
