A review of “At the Fountains of Madness” from the Necronomnomnom Cookbook.

20200820_131647This is the only non-alcoholic drink in the Necronomnomnom cookbook, so for now it’s the only one I can make and try out.

This is based on “At the Mountains of Madness,” one of H. P. Lovecraft’s novellas.  The story is about an exploration to Antarctica where they discover several prehistoric life forms.

For this drink, gummy bears are frozen into ice cubes in advance.  Then the liquids are all mixed together (black cherry seltzer, maraschino cherry syrup, and half-and-half) before the gummy bear ice cubes are added in.  A few additional non-frozen gummy bears are then added in at the end, to either float or drown!

Taste: 10/10

Personally I loved this, but it could be too sweet for some people.  To me it tasted like liquid candy!  I thought the half and half would be weird in there, but it just makes the drink a little more cloudy and adds foam to the top.

I will note that the gummy bears had a weird consistency at the end.  The outside of the gummies were really soft, and the inside was pretty hard.
