Phil’s Multigrain Malt Waffles
Phil: “It’s gonna take more than that to ruin a morning that started with a whipped-cream smile on my waffle.” – Season 6, Episode 11

Surprisingly there is no whipped cream smile on these waffles, despite the quote, but they are delicious regardless!
You’ll need to make the waffle mix first, which keeps for up to 3 months and is good for multiple batches of waffles. It’s very simple to make – simply mix all the ingredients together and store in a jar!

Once you’re ready to make the waffles, simply mix the waffle mix with the wet ingredients and pour into the waffle iron.
The recipe suggests it should make about 5 waffles, but I only got 4 thin waffles – I would double the recipe next time and add more batter in each time.

Taste: 10/10
While these waffles certainly aren’t healthy, they include better ingredients than most other waffle mixes – whole wheat flour, spelt flour, and wheat germ included. And they are SO good! Light and fluffy and delicious. Of course we added butter and maple syrup to ours to make them even tastier!

Difficulty: Easy
Simply mix everything together and cook the batter in a waffle iron.
Cost: Average / Pricey
Cost will depend on what you already have in your pantry. I ended up needing to purchase several items for the waffle mix.
Ingredients include all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, spelt flour, yellow cornmeal, sugar, malted milk powder, baking powder, toasted wheat germ, salt, milk, walnut oil, vanilla extract, and egg. And of course your topping of choice!
