Manny’s Girlfriend’s Salted Chocolate Milk

Kelly: “Ooh, you know what you should do? Put a pinch of salt in the chocolate milk. It really brings out the flavor.”
Gloria: Salt is for the popcorn.
Manny: That sounds good
Gloria: You wouldn’t like it.
This is the chocolate milk that Manny drinks to impress his girlfriend, much to the disappointment of his mother, Gloria, who feels she’s losing her little boy.
The recipe is really more for a chocolate syrup that you can mix with milk to make chocolate milk. The chocolate syrup recipe just requires mixing the ingredients over the stove and boiling 10 minutes. I boiled mine for 15 minutes, and I felt like I should have boiled it a bit longer still, because it was still pretty runny and not like a syrup.

Then the syrup is mixed into milk and a pinch of salt is added.

Taste: 9/10
This was delicious! And I like that you can make it as chocolatey as you’d like by adding more syrup.
The reason I knocked it down one notch is that the salt really didn’t do much for me. It was good, but I didn’t taste any until the very last swig. It probably should have been mixed in to the milk, but the recipe said “add a pinch” after the mixing step.
Difficulty: Easy
Even if you don’t cook the ingredients long enough and have a runny syrup like I did, it’s still going to be tasty. It’s hard to mess this one up!
Cost: Cheap
You’ll need unsweetened cocoa powder, sugar, light corn syrup, milk, and salt.
