Hi! I’m Jessica. And here’s a little bit about me:
I grew up in Southern Ontario, Canada, and moved to the United States when I was 20. I spent a year in New York City, tasting some of the best street food of my life, before moving to Los Angeles.
It was here in LA where I reconnected with a friend from back home. We became roommates a year later, and about 6 years after that I married him.
My mom is Italian, so meal times have always been a very important event at our house. This woman makes pasta from scratch, jars her own jams and tomato sauce, and makes a mean bowl of minestrone soup. But her talents don’t end at Italian food! She taught my sister and I how took cook food from around the world, and now both of us love to travel and try new recipes.
The first cooking blog I ever followed was Inn at the Crossroads. If you’re a Game of Thrones fan (and I certainly am), definitely check it out! They have pretty much every recipe mentioned in the “A Song of Ice & Fire” book series.
Eventually they released “A Feast of Ice and Fire,” and this became my first fiction-based cookbook. After that, a collection started forming on my shelf.
I’ve made the odd recipe here and there from most of the books, but then life got in the way and I started cooking less and less.
But no more! I’m pulling out my apron, rolling up my sleeves, and putting these cookbooks to the test.
The plan is to make about 20 recipes a month from one of the cookbooks, which should give a pretty good indication of how good the cookbook is. Hopefully I find some keepers along the way!
